Case Study: Roxy Bond, Apprentice Sales Coordinator at SIG plc

Roxy Bond has been an Apprentice Sales Coordinator at SIG plc for one and a half years.

Her role involves filing paperwork, creating and chasing quotes, organising branch transfer paperwork, answering customer phone calls and emails and serving customers at the counter.

Although it hasn’t always been a smooth journey, Roxy has found confidence and new skills in her role: “Before joining the construction industry I didn’t know what to expect. As a woman in a male-dominated industry, it hasn’t always been easy, but I have noticed a huge change in myself. I have become more confident with talking to people and I have learned a lot of communication and interpersonal skills through customer and team interaction.”

On what she loves about her role, Roxy says: “The thing I enjoy most about my role is learning something new every day, especially getting to go to development days and interacting with new people from around the business.”

For other women who are interested in apprenticeships in the construction industry, Roxy would say: “Go for it, as it builds character and helped me to become more confident and gain skills in communication!”
